  1. Nobody knows what to learn anymore

  2. 00:00Nobody knows what skill to learn right
  3. 00:01now. Do you learn AI? Do you learn
  4. 00:03coding? Do you learn marketing? Am I
  5. 00:05wasting my time if I go to school while
  6. 00:08everyone else is vibe coding apps
  7. 00:09they'll never get traction on? Do I
  8. 00:11start a YouTube channel? What about a
  9. 00:12Substack? Should I even try getting a
  10. 00:14job or should I build my own thing?
  11. 00:16There is so much opportunity right now,
  12. 00:18and I'm sure you've heard that a billion
  13. 00:20times before. But since there is so much
  14. 00:22opportunity, it just paralyzes more
  15. 00:25people than ever into not doing anything
  16. 00:27because you feel like if you start
  17. 00:29learning one thing, it'll just become
  18. 00:31irrelevant in 1 to two years. However,
  19. 00:33there is one skill that will never go
  20. 00:36out of style. It is a meta skill and if
  21. 00:38you learn it, it simply increases the
  22. 00:41power of every other skill that you
  23. 00:43learn and it allows you to learn those
  24. 00:45skills much faster. And that skill is
  25. 00:48called human nature. Because if you
  26. 00:50understand how the mind works, what
  27. 00:52makes it tick, what makes it pay
  28. 00:54attention, what makes it take action,
  29. 00:56then you can really make any business
  30. 00:58successful, you can work your way into
  31. 01:00new opportunities. You can make friends
  32. 01:02and influence people. You can navigate
  33. 01:04through life with elegance and grace
  34. 01:05because you are no longer a slave to
  35. 01:07your mind, but a master of it and a
  36. 01:10master of others. And if you want to
  37. 01:11build your own thing, how else are you
  38. 01:13going to succeed outside of a job when
  39. 01:16humans are the ones with the money, the
  40. 01:19resources, the opportunities that are
  41. 01:20going to support you? How else are you
  42. 01:22going to get paid if another human with
  43. 01:25money doesn't see you as valuable enough
  44. 01:27to pay? And even if your goal is to get
  45. 01:30a job and not do your own thing, how are
  46. 01:33you going to get your dream job if you
  47. 01:35don't position yourself as valuable to
  48. 01:38the employer? But the question is, how
  49. 01:40do you learn something as intangible as
  50. 01:43human nature? So in this video, that's
  51. 01:45what I hope to provide. I hope to
  52. 01:47provide the steps and principles that
  53. 01:48you can apply today that will give you a
  54. 01:50competitive advantage against everyone
  55. 01:52else who is racing to succeed as fast as
  56. 01:54possible because they think AI will
  57. 01:56somehow save them from their lack of
  58. The Anatomy Of Human Nature (And How To Exploit It)

  59. 01:58experience. So we're going to start with
  60. 01:59dissecting the anatomy of human nature
  61. 02:02and how to exploit it. Now, you may not
  62. 02:04like the word exploit here, but we'll
  63. 02:07get to that and what it means to do this
  64. 02:08unethically or ethically. Now, there are
  65. 02:11eight human desires. There's survival,
  66. 02:14life enjoyment, social acceptance,
  67. 02:16sexual companionship, freedom from fear,
  68. 02:18comfort and clarity, perceived status,
  69. 02:20and safety of tribe. We're going to
  70. 02:22condense all of these into what I call
  71. 02:24the three tensions. These are the three
  72. 02:27psychological tensions that if you know
  73. 02:29how to hit, you can get people to pay
  74. 02:31attention and you can position yourself
  75. 02:33or your work or your writing or your
  76. 02:34speaking or your social media posts or
  77. 02:36your landing pages or products as
  78. 02:38valuable. This is a meta skill. It
  79. 02:40applies to everything. And then after
  80. 02:42that, we're going to actually make that
  81. 02:44actionable with the five psychological
  82. 02:46levers that you can actually pull and
  83. 02:48apply to your speaking, your writing,
  84. 02:50everything that you do on a daily basis.
  85. 02:52And if you practice those five things,
  86. 02:55you'll be unstoppable, as hyperbolic as
  87. 02:58that sounds. Now, the mind is a story
  88. 03:00engine. That's what humans can't help
  89. 03:02but pay attention to. And that's what
  90. 03:04separates us from robots because robots
  91. 03:06are useful for utility because nobody
  92. 03:09would care aside from the DMV workers.
  93. 03:11If the DMV was completely automated and
  94. 03:13made efficient, who in their right mind
  95. 03:15looks forward to standing in a long line
  96. 03:17for hours just to get a new picture for
  97. 03:19your driver's license? It just doesn't
  98. 03:21make sense. People want to get rid of
  99. 03:22this. And it's the same with fast food
  100. 03:24or riding in an Uber or a taxi. Nobody
  101. 03:26likes when the cashier gets your order
  102. 03:28wrong. Nobody likes riding in a dirty
  103. 03:30back seat while someone you don't know
  104. 03:32asks about your day simply because they
  105. 03:33want you to tip them more money. So let
  106. 03:36the robot solve utility. That way humans
  107. 03:39can abstract out to meaning, purpose,
  108. 03:41and narrative. Humans love stakes. Our
  109. 03:44chest gets tight when their team is
  110. 03:46about to lose in the final inning of a
  111. 03:48baseball game. Humans love novelty. We
  112. 03:50travel across the world to dine in a
  113. 03:52five-star restaurant. So, mastering
  114. 03:54human nature is about mastering story,
  115. 03:57storytelling, narrative. And I'm not
  116. 03:59talking about writing a novel. I'm
  117. 04:01talking about like the structure of
  118. 04:03reality in a sense. So, I'm not going to
  119. 04:05teach you how to write your a short
  120. 04:07story. I'm going to teach you the
  121. 04:10principles of value creation to get
  122. 04:12people to pay attention to position what
  123. 04:14you have to offer as valuable and to get
  124. 04:16them to take action on it. be that to
  125. 04:18pay you to change their own behavior or
  126. 04:20to just get what you want, which we'll
  127. 04:22go over. Now, if you understand these
  128. 04:24principles that we're going to go over,
  129. 04:26you will write better, speak better,
  130. 04:28create better products, attract more
  131. 04:29customers, make more friends, and
  132. 04:31understand how to create value for
  133. 04:33others, thus increasing the value of
  134. 04:35yourself. So, in essence, I'm teaching
  135. 04:37you marketing, sales, and how to
  136. 04:39influence people all in one go. And I
  137. 04:41genuinely don't think you'll understand
  138. 04:43the importance of this until you
  139. 04:44actually implement it, which most people
  140. 04:46won't. I made a video I think like three
  141. 04:49years ago on the same topic. And for the
  142. 04:50people that actually understand this and
  143. 04:53what I'm saying here and see the
  144. 04:54patterns across all the different
  145. 04:55industries, it is completely
  146. 04:58life-changing. It is completely
  147. 04:59different frame from how you operate
  148. 05:01within the world. And I'm genuinely
  149. 05:04convinced that this is the frame that
  150. 05:06most successful people have and
  151. 05:08unsuccessful people simply just can't
  152. 05:10see through it. So the mind has three
  153. 05:12pressure points and if you press any one
  154. 05:14of them attention them giving you
  155. 05:16attention is almost involuntary. That is
  156. 05:18if you're speaking to a person who is
  157. 05:20prone to that specific tension or
  158. 05:22pressure point. And if you press all
  159. 05:24three of them you have a grip on someone
  160. 05:26that logic alone can't break. So I want
  161. 05:28you to keep these three tensions in mind
  162. 05:30whenever you interact with someone or go
  163. 05:32to write something or anything where
  164. 05:33you're interacting with another person.
  165. 05:35Writing on social media is interacting
  166. 05:36with a bunch of people at once. Just
  167. 05:38hold it in your mind until it sticks in
  168. Survival Tension

  169. 05:40there. Now, the first tension is the
  170. 05:42survival tension because the mind is a
  171. 05:44story engine, but it's also a set of
  172. 05:46survival strategies. We're in a constant
  173. 05:49subconscious threat detection mode
  174. 05:50because we still have the same wiring as
  175. 05:52our huntergatherer ancestors. We don't
  176. 05:54want to die, obviously. So, we desire
  177. 05:57safety and solutions to problems. And if
  178. 05:59you can make someone aware of a problem,
  179. 06:01then provide a solution. That's sales in
  180. 06:03a nutshell and storytelling in a
  181. 06:05nutshell. So, when I personally talk
  182. 06:07about storytelling, again, I'm not
  183. 06:09talking about writing a novel. I'm
  184. 06:10talking about problem solution. That's
  185. 06:13what it and the in between the
  186. 06:14transformation in between. Problem
  187. 06:16transformation solution. But the thing
  188. 06:18with the survival tension is that safety
  189. 06:20isn't just life or death situations. It
  190. 06:22can be a very small problem that is
  191. 06:24amplified into a big problem. And these
  192. 06:26problems can be financial or social or
  193. 06:29even just a missed opportunity, right?
  194. 06:31FOMO. Because that gives you better
  195. 06:33chances at survival. Your mind is
  196. 06:34constantly looking for something that
  197. 06:36gives them a better chance at survival.
  198. 06:38And in today's world, that doesn't mean
  199. 06:40like necessarily better shelter or
  200. 06:42better home. It means better skills,
  201. 06:44better knowledge, so you can stay on top
  202. 06:46of, let's say, AI. If someone on
  203. 06:48Instagram is like, "Oh, I have the
  204. 06:49latest claude skill that you can
  205. 06:51download." And it it does this, this,
  206. 06:53and this, then you feel the sense of
  207. 06:54missed opportunity because you don't use
  208. 06:56Claude the same way. And you feel like
  209. 06:58you need to learn that. And the thing
  210. 06:59there is that it could genuinely be
  211. 07:01helpful. But you as a person to protect
  212. 07:04your own mind from being manipulated is
  213. 07:06you have to ruthlessly maintain your
  214. 07:08priorities and your values and your
  215. 07:10goals because that clawed skill may not
  216. 07:12have anything to do with your priorities
  217. 07:14or goals and you may get sucked in and
  218. 07:16distracted. That's the definition of
  219. 07:18distraction. So, a few examples of this,
  220. 07:20well-worded examples of the survival
  221. 07:23tension illustrated as a problem or
  222. 07:25something that you would say, I guess,
  223. 07:27is one, you wake up at 30 and realize
  224. 07:29you've been living on autopilot, and the
  225. 07:31gap between who you are and who you want
  226. 07:33to be is so large that change feels
  227. 07:35impossible. Two, you spend a decade
  228. 07:37building someone else's dreams just to
  229. 07:39find that they don't care about you at
  230. 07:40all. Three, there are people dumber than
  231. 07:42you making 10 times more than you
  232. 07:44because they don't think about the risk.
  233. 07:46And as you may be able to tell, I've
  234. 07:48written those before as social posts,
  235. 07:50and they grab attention because of this
  236. 07:52exact tension. Now, a quick aside and a
  237. 07:54quick self-promotion. If you want to
  238. 07:56build your personal brand in 30 days and
  239. 07:58learn the AI skills that you actually
  240. 08:00need, the next content boot camp starts
  241. 08:02in just a few days. And this will teach
  242. 08:04you everything that you need to know
  243. 08:06about personal branding content, how to
  244. 08:08write, how to generate compelling ideas
  245. 08:11that actually allow you to grow and get
  246. 08:13clients or just new opportunities, even
  247. 08:15new jobs. So, if you want to learn a
  248. 08:17skill that compounds for the rest of
  249. 08:19your career, consider enrolling with the
  250. Identity Tension

  251. 08:21link in the description. Now, the second
  252. 08:23tension is the identity tension. And
  253. 08:25this comes after survival because it's
  254. 08:27deeply intertwined with survival.
  255. 08:29Because survival goes much deeper than
  256. 08:31physical survival. Animals try to
  257. 08:33reproduce the information in their genes
  258. 08:36through physical reproduction. Humans
  259. 08:38also do that, but we also try to
  260. 08:40reproduce the information in our
  261. 08:41consciousness through ideology,
  262. 08:43speaking, socialization. That's all
  263. 08:45we're doing. It's just all survival.
  264. 08:47This is why you feel threatened when
  265. 08:49someone threatens your identity. When
  266. 08:51they say, "Oh, your sports team sucks
  267. 08:53and you're too identified with the
  268. 08:55sports team." And when they lose, you're
  269. 08:57on the verge of fighting someone or you
  270. 08:58do get in a bar fight because of it. or
  271. 09:01when someone says something bad about
  272. 09:03being a Republican or a Democrat or a
  273. 09:05Christian or an atheist or anything
  274. 09:07else, any ideology, any set of concepts
  275. 09:10that you hold as a part of yourself in
  276. 09:13your little mind, you get threatened by
  277. 09:15that and you feel the response as if
  278. 09:18someone's holding a knife to your throat
  279. 09:20even though they're not. Humans desire a
  280. 09:22tribe because it helps with survival and
  281. 09:25you identify with that tribe. Humans
  282. 09:27desire status. They want belonging
  283. 09:29because again in your home if you rebel
  284. 09:31against your parents they're going to
  285. 09:33kick you out potentially if they're not
  286. 09:35open-minded. So you have to conform to
  287. 09:37their values and beliefs and their
  288. 09:39rules. This is also why you choose to be
  289. 09:41anti- AI or pro AAI which is the new
  290. 09:44religion and you argue into oblivion
  291. 09:46about it all day on social media with
  292. 09:49nothing to show for it. You get nowhere.
  293. 09:51You can regurgitate how AI is rotting
  294. 09:53your brain or you can test that theory
  295. 09:55against reality and actually educate
  296. 09:57yourself on it. But that's not the point
  297. 09:59of this. That's a way to make yourself
  298. 10:00unsusceptible to people targeting your
  299. 10:03identity tension because every time you
  300. 10:05argue about the anti-AI stuff or proAI
  301. 10:08stuff, you are a slave to someone else's
  302. 10:10ideals and you do not seek truth. You
  303. 10:12seek hype and you have not created your
  304. 10:14own mind. So that's the identity tension
  305. 10:16and we'll learn how to target it. We're
  306. 10:18just going over what it is for now. But
  307. Progress Tension

  308. 10:20the third tension is the progress
  309. 10:22tension. So there's survival, identity,
  310. 10:24progress, and they each build on top of
  311. 10:26each other. People kind of evolve
  312. 10:28through the stages. And by now you may
  313. 10:30be able to see the pattern, which is
  314. 10:32Maslo's hierarchy, the stages of ego
  315. 10:34development, spiral dynamics,
  316. 10:36developmental psychology in general.
  317. 10:37People at different levels of mind have
  318. 10:39different things that tap into their
  319. 10:42psychology and make them pay attention
  320. 10:43because they see it as important. So
  321. 10:46first, people need safety and comfort.
  322. 10:48Second, they need belonging and status.
  323. 10:50And once they solve those things, which
  324. 10:53preferably you're helping them do
  325. 10:54because you're a value creator, you're
  326. 10:56not a manipulator. You're not exploiting
  327. 10:58human nature to be unethical and just
  328. 11:00make a bunch of money. You're exploiting
  329. 11:02it, so to say, so you can help people
  330. 11:04rise through these stages. That's the
  331. 11:06ethical and meaningful version of this.
  332. 11:08And once they go through those first two
  333. 11:09stages, third, they crave deeper
  334. 11:12meaning, purpose, and experience. And
  335. 11:13the complex thing about humans is that
  336. 11:15you can desire any of these at different
  337. 11:17times, right? AI can't just pin down
  338. 11:19exactly where you are. That's why it's
  339. 11:21unique. That's why it's a difficult
  340. 11:23skill to learn and practice because
  341. 11:25you're essentially able to read people's
  342. 11:27minds when you get it right. But people
  343. 11:29can desire these at any time. You can
  344. 11:31desire meaning and purpose, but if
  345. 11:34you're in a very stressful situation in
  346. 11:36your life or you lose a lot of money at
  347. 11:37one time, then you're going to regress
  348. 11:39down to the survival stage and survival
  349. 11:42tension is going to hit you a lot harder
  350. 11:43and you're going to be a lot more
  351. 11:45susceptible to people trying to exploit
  352. 11:48you. And for creators specifically or
  353. 11:50personal brands or people who are trying
  354. 11:51to do their own work online or the
  355. 11:53writers or the speakers or the writers
  356. 11:56or the speakers, the problem that I see
  357. 11:58is that people try to speak too much to
  358. 12:01the meaning and purpose crowd without
  359. 12:04understanding that 90% to 95% of people
  360. 12:08are not only beginners but in the
  361. 12:10survival and identity stages. You have
  362. 12:12to work them up the ladder. If you want
  363. 12:14your content to be seen, then usually
  364. 12:17your topics revolve around the survival
  365. 12:19tension and the identity tension. But
  366. 12:21then your products and your lead magnets
  367. 12:23and deeper in your funnel if you're a
  368. 12:26value creator, so to say, and not just
  369. 12:27an influencer trying to sell a weird
  370. 12:30product, I don't know. But you have to
  371. 12:31help them solve their lower level
  372. 12:33problems first so that then you can help
  373. 12:36them with where you're experienced in
  374. 12:38which is the meaning, the purpose, the
  375. 12:40spirituality, the fulfillment, all of
  376. 12:41that fun stuff, the deep philosophy. And
  377. 12:43this all sounds great, but what do you
  378. 12:45actually do with this information? How
  379. 12:47does it actually make you a better
  380. 12:49writer or speaker or businessman or
  381. 12:52husband or wife or just person, valuable
  382. 12:54person in general? How do you practice
  383. How To Pull Psychological Levers To Get What You Want

  384. 12:56this skill? So, now we're going to learn
  385. 12:58how to pull psychological levers to get
  386. 13:01what you want. And I want to start with
  387. 13:04just a quote that I love. I honestly
  388. 13:06pulled this from one of my previous
  389. 13:07newsletters. I don't know if I wrote it
  390. 13:09or if someone else did, so I hope that
  391. 13:11I'm not just stealing someone's quote
  392. 13:13here, but the modern information
  393. 13:15environment is breaking our ability to
  394. 13:17think, and most people don't even
  395. 13:18notice. Essays might be one of the last
  396. 13:20forms of content that actually develops
  397. 13:23your capacity to make sense of reality.
  398. 13:25And I say this because you can read all
  399. 13:27the books on persuasion. You can study
  400. 13:29psychology and behavior textbooks. You
  401. 13:31can think you know a lot about why
  402. 13:33humans think and act the way they do.
  403. 13:35But if you have not tested that
  404. 13:37knowledge against reality, then you do
  405. 13:39not know what you're talking about. You
  406. 13:40need feedback. You need to put something
  407. 13:42out into the world and see how people
  408. 13:44respond. You need to write. You need to
  409. 13:46speak. You need to create a product and
  410. 13:48sell it. Entrepreneurship equals
  411. 13:50self-improvement because the market and
  412. 13:52reality become your harsh mentor. This
  413. 13:54is why I recommend writing so much
  414. 13:57because not only is writing clear
  415. 14:00thinking. You have to refine and clarify
  416. 14:03your thinking as you write it on the
  417. 14:04page, but there's a dual mechanism. When
  418. 14:07you post it, you get direct feedback as
  419. 14:09to how valuable it was. And in order for
  420. 14:12it to be valuable, it has to be
  421. 14:13attentiongrabbing and persuasive. You
  422. 14:16have to practice and refine the skill of
  423. 14:19human nature. So, for now, understand
  424. 14:21that when I say you're pulling
  425. 14:23psychological levers or you're
  426. 14:24exploiting human nature, what I'm really
  427. 14:26saying is that you need to learn how to
  428. 14:28persuade. And persuasion is only as
  429. 14:31unethical as the person that wields the
  430. 14:33tool. It's the same with any other tool.
  431. 14:35A tool like money or AI is neutral until
  432. 14:38it's put in the hands of the stupid or
  433. 14:40the smart or the unethical or the
  434. 14:42ethical. So, someone who resides at a
  435. 14:45lower level of mind in survival mode,
  436. 14:48and all they can see is what is going to
  437. 14:51allow them to pay the bills this month,
  438. 14:52they're going to do anything to make
  439. 14:55that happen. And they will inevitably
  440. 14:57use persuasion in unethical ways. Since
  441. 15:00their sole priority is money rather than
  442. 15:02meaning or truth because they don't feel
  443. 15:05comfortable financially, they will
  444. 15:06manipulate and scheme to acquire the
  445. 15:08money until those values fundamentally
  446. 15:10shift. So in my eyes, it's very
  447. 15:13important that you develop yourself. You
  448. 15:15pursue personal development and truth so
  449. 15:18you can reach this higher level of mind.
  450. 15:20And I don't say that to say that the
  451. 15:22lower level of mind is bad. Most people
  452. 15:24just don't have control over it. I think
  453. 15:26that is a great fundamental thing to
  454. 15:27pursue in your life so that you have a
  455. 15:30more positive impact on your customers
  456. 15:33or your readers or whoever it may be. So
  457. 15:35with that said, know where you stand,
  458. 15:38right? I'm not here to tell you how to
  459. 15:40use persuasion. That's you're going to
  460. 15:41use it however you plan to use it. Now,
  461. 15:43there are five psychological levers that
  462. 15:46pull one or more of the three tensions
  463. 15:48we just discussed. So, you create
  464. 15:50tension first. This is what gets people
  465. 15:51to pay attention when you write, speak,
  466. 15:54post, or sell. And then you offer a
  467. 15:56solution that preferably changes
  468. Lever 1: Name the Threat (Survival Tension)

  469. 15:58behavior in a positive way. Now, the
  470. 16:00first lever, psychological lever is name
  471. 16:02the threat, which aligns with the
  472. 16:04survival tension. Because before anyone
  473. 16:06cares about a solution like your video
  474. 16:08or product etc. they need to be aware of
  475. 16:11the problem and there are five levels of
  476. 16:13awareness and these are from Eugene
  477. 16:15Schwarz. The first level is unaware. So
  478. 16:17they don't know they have a problem and
  479. 16:19you make them aware of it by just naming
  480. 16:21it. Level two is problem aware. So they
  481. 16:24know there's a problem but don't know a
  482. 16:26solution exists. So you just name the
  483. 16:28solution here. Level three is solution
  484. 16:30aware. So they know a solution exists,
  485. 16:32but they're comparing options and don't
  486. 16:34know about your unique solution. And
  487. 16:36level four is product aware. So they
  488. 16:38know about your solution, but they need
  489. 16:40proof, objection handling, testimonials,
  490. 16:42and the rest. And then level five is
  491. 16:44most aware. So they simply haven't
  492. 16:46implemented it and need a little nudge
  493. 16:47over the edge. Now, when I create these
  494. 16:49videos, I always start by naming the
  495. 16:51problem. Literally go back to the very
  496. 16:53start of this video. What do I say?
  497. 16:56Nobody knows what skill to learn right
  498. 16:57now. And what this does is it allows
  499. 16:59people to self-qualify like do I know
  500. 17:01what skill to learn or do I not know
  501. 17:03what skill to learn? And it's also the
  502. 17:05start of the story because when you
  503. 17:06start a story like a novel, you're
  504. 17:09usually in this place of tension and
  505. 17:11then it slowly gets resolved and then
  506. 17:12they go on an adventure and then they
  507. 17:14reach the conclusion. So the best way to
  508. 17:16actually learn this is to just look and
  509. 17:19notice it on social media. When people
  510. 17:21make a post, I guarantee that most of
  511. 17:24the posts you read have a problem that's
  512. 17:25implied or just directly stated. This is
  513. 17:28the most powerful thing you can do. It's
  514. 17:30so simple, but just start with the
  515. 17:32problem in your writing, speaking posts
  516. 17:34at the start of your product. You need
  517. 17:36to frame the situation. When you're
  518. 17:37trying to convince your wife that you
  519. 17:39want to go and have a night out with the
  520. 17:41boys, you start with a problem first,
  521. 17:44and that will open them up much more to
  522. 17:46hearing your solution, which in your
  523. 17:48case is going out with the boys. The
  524. 17:50problem could be, oh, you haven't had a
  525. 17:52night to yourself in a long time. You
  526. 17:54want to watch Grey's Anatomy and you can
  527. 17:56just have a chill night alone. And then
  528. 17:57you continue on with the persuasive
  529. 17:59argument that you're making. Now,
  530. 18:01another practice you can do here is to
  531. 18:02just name five problems you've
  532. 18:04experienced in your life. Seriously, do
  533. 18:06that. Think of the problems that you've
  534. 18:07experienced and boom, now you have five
  535. 18:10content ideas that you can go and post
  536. 18:11and they're going to be a lot better
  537. 18:13than if you just thought of them from
  538. 18:15scratch. And towards the end, I'll
  539. 18:16mention it, but I actually created a
  540. 18:18prompt that acts as like a persuasion
  541. 18:20coach slashteer slashwriter. So, if you
  542. 18:23just run the prompt, it'll ask you what
  543. 18:25you want and you can practice with the
  544. 18:27prompt and it'll help teach you human
  545. Lever 2: Mirror the Identity (Identity Tension)

  546. 18:29nature and persuasion a lot faster. So
  547. 18:31the second psychological lever is mirror
  548. 18:33the identity which aligns with the
  549. 18:35identity tension because you identify
  550. 18:37with a group or tribe without realizing
  551. 18:39it like being a morning person or being
  552. 18:42a coffee drinker or being a Christian,
  553. 18:44atheist, Republican, Democrat, anti- AI,
  554. 18:47proi or any of the other ideologies or
  555. 18:49religions we like to adopt as a part of
  556. 18:51ourselves. Now, as an example, here's a
  557. 18:53YouTube video that got 3.9 million
  558. 18:55views. And the title is you're not
  559. 18:58forgetful, my system for memorizing
  560. 19:00everything. So it quite literally
  561. 19:02packages everything we've discussed into
  562. 19:04eight words. Problem, identity,
  563. 19:06solution. And there are so many
  564. 19:08different ways to pull the identity
  565. 19:09lever. But my favorite way and the one
  566. 19:11that I go to is I just start with if you
  567. 19:14are or if you're and that's it. If
  568. 19:16you're lazy, if you're broke, if you're
  569. 19:18unhappy, if you're a writer, that hits
  570. 19:21the problem tension or the survival
  571. 19:23tension and the identity tension in one
  572. 19:25lever that you can pull. And all of
  573. 19:27those, if you're lazy, if you're broke,
  574. 19:29if you're unhappy, they're the start of
  575. 19:31four almost viral social posts or the
  576. 19:34start of a public speaking gig or the
  577. 19:36start or title of a YouTube video. And
  578. 19:38by the way, if you have interests or
  579. 19:40skills or knowledge that people already
  580. 19:42talk about online, I'll teach you my
  581. 19:44system for building an audience and a
  582. 19:46personal brand and writing compelling
  583. 19:48content that you actually resonate with
  584. 19:50in the content boot camp that starts in
  585. 19:535 days. So link in the description. I
  586. 19:54would enroll before then. I'll teach you
  587. 19:57my system for building an audience, a
  588. 19:59personal brand, and writing compelling
  589. 20:01content that you actually want to post
  590. 20:02and write about your interests in the
  591. 20:04content boot camp. And that starts in a
  592. 20:06few days. I don't know exactly when cuz
  593. 20:08I don't know when this video is going
  594. 20:09out but I would encourage enrolling
  595. Lever 3: Exclude People (Identity Tension, deepened)

  596. 20:11before then. Now the third psychological
  597. 20:13lever is to exclude people and this is
  598. 20:16the identity tension deepened. So here
  599. 20:18you just want to explicitly name who it
  600. 20:20is not for because exclusion creates
  601. 20:22that sense of belonging and it pushes
  602. 20:24people to pick a side. Now this is best
  603. 20:26done after you mirror the identity from
  604. 20:28step two which draws a line filtering
  605. 20:31out the wrong people who weren't going
  606. 20:32to support you anyways. So, a few
  607. 20:34examples, and you've probably heard
  608. 20:35something like this before, but this
  609. 20:37isn't for people who want to try to get
  610. 20:39in shape. This is for people tired of
  611. 20:41their own excuses and ready to
  612. 20:42completely change their life. Example
  613. 20:44two, if you're looking for a
  614. 20:46productivity hack or morning routine,
  615. 20:48you're in the wrong place. Example
  616. 20:49three, this isn't for people who want a
  617. 20:51dinky side hustle. We're building a real
  618. Lever 4: Paint the Transformation (Progress Tension)

  619. 20:54business here. So, I think you get that
  620. 20:55and it leads to psychological lever
  621. 20:57number four, which is paint the
  622. 20:59transformation. And this aligns with the
  623. 21:01progress tension. So essentially,
  624. 21:03mastering human nature is about changing
  625. 21:05people's lives for the better,
  626. 21:06hopefully, because that's how you build
  627. 21:08your life's work. You become a massive
  628. 21:10value creator, and this is how you
  629. 21:12create value for other humans, or at
  630. 21:14least something that's perceived as
  631. 21:16valuable. You hone in on a purpose, and
  632. 21:18that purpose revolves around solving a
  633. 21:20problem for as many people as you can.
  634. 21:22Persuasion is simply how you get people
  635. 21:24on board with that. So, so far we've
  636. 21:26captured attention by naming the threat
  637. 21:28and filtered out those who don't match
  638. 21:31by mirroring the identity. And now we
  639. 21:33create desire by simulating the future.
  640. 21:35So again, you can probably see at the
  641. 21:37beginning the introduction of this
  642. 21:39video, I hit all of these in a short
  643. 21:42amount of time. It was like 3 minutes.
  644. 21:43And so why does this work? Well, one,
  645. 21:46the problem catches attention and then
  646. 21:47the solution or the desired outcome or
  647. 21:50the end of the transformation causes you
  648. 21:52to actually experience the feeling of
  649. 21:54having that thing. That's what the mind
  650. 21:56or the brain does. The same neural
  651. 21:58circuitry fires when you imagine an
  652. 22:00experience as when you actually have it.
  653. 22:03They're the same. Now, again, if this
  654. 22:04doesn't sound too practical, even though
  655. 22:06it's very practical, it's just hard to
  656. 22:08do unless you have something to apply it
  657. 22:10to. So, if you aren't posting on social
  658. 22:12media or giving public talks or trying
  659. 22:15to get a promotion and trying to
  660. 22:17persuade your boss, you need a vessel to
  661. 22:19practice this, right? And in most jobs,
  662. 22:21you aren't in the position to do that
  663. 22:22because you don't have the direct
  664. 22:24feedback from reality. You aren't an
  665. 22:26entrepreneur. So, if you want a way to
  666. 22:28practice it right now, again, I have the
  667. 22:30prompt link in the description. You just
  668. 22:31pop that into AI and then it can be your
  669. 22:33coach or your teacher or any of those
  670. 22:35things and it will guide you through it.
  671. 22:37And you can use that while writing posts
  672. 22:39or newsletters or scripts or while
  673. 22:41you're preparing for a talk. Really,
  674. 22:42anything while you're writing a book and
  675. Lever 5: Give the First Step (Progress Tension, activated)

  676. 22:44I think it's pretty dang cool and
  677. 22:45helpful. Now, psychological lever number
  678. 22:47five is to just give the first step. And
  679. 22:50now this is the progress tension
  680. 22:52activated to an extent because the
  681. 22:54reason most people don't change is
  682. 22:56because they don't believe they can
  683. 22:57actually do the thing. They don't have
  684. 22:59clarity. The comfort of their current
  685. 23:01life is more desirable than the
  686. 23:02discomfort of doing what it takes to
  687. 23:04solve the problem you're offering them a
  688. 23:06solution to. So, in a tweet, this looks
  689. 23:08like, "Don't overhaul your life
  690. 23:10overnight. Just go to bed an hour
  691. 23:12earlier." So, in a product, this looks
  692. 23:13like making the first step so stupidly
  693. 23:16simple that they just can't avoid
  694. 23:17getting results. That's what makes your
  695. 23:19product valuable to them is time to
  696. 23:21result. And another interesting reason
  697. 23:23why this is just so powerful is that it
  698. 23:25causes the zygarnic effect to kick in,
  699. 23:27which is that the brain hates
  700. 23:29uncompleted tasks. So, once someone
  701. 23:31starts something or think about starting
  702. 23:33something, they can't help but complete
  703. 23:34it. And that's it. The more you practice
  704. 23:37this, the more you practice human
  705. 23:38nature, the more it impacts every other
  706. 23:40skill that you acquire. And when people
  707. 23:43or you go and learn the latest highv
  708. 23:45value skills, essentially if it's a good
  709. 23:46skill, you're just learning a lower
  710. 23:49layer of human nature. So if you learn
  711. 23:51the meta skill itself and practice all
  712. 23:53of this, practice everything from that
  713. 23:55frame or from that lens. You can pick up
  714. 23:58almost any high value skill and do it
  715. 24:00better than everyone else because the
  716. 24:02skills are going to continue to evolve.
  717. 24:04There's going to be new skills every
  718. 24:06single year that you're going to have to
  719. 24:07keep up with. And this is how you
  720. 24:09actually learn those faster and become
  721. 24:11valuable at them because again, the
  722. 24:13people who have the money that you want
  723. 24:15to support your work and the
  724. 24:17opportunities and the resources are
  725. 24:19humans. So you need to study them. So
  726. 24:21that is it. Thank you for watching. If
  727. 24:23you want to start a personal brand,
  728. 24:24build an audience, learn how to write
  729. 24:26compelling content in your own voice and
  730. 24:28find your unique voice, the link to the
  731. 24:30content boot camp is in the description
